Default AutoPackage for rev 1596 question

I'm not sure if this should be a bugzilla bug report or not so I'm asking the question here with a couple of screen shots. The error applies more to AutoPackage than to Xara LX.

I downloaded the AutoPackage for rev 1596 today. I opened a root terminal session and used the command: Package remove XaraXtreme and the previous rev 1564 was removed. I then used the command: bash xaralx0.7_rev1596.package to begin installation of the latest build.

I received an error in the gui interface and a more detailed error in the terminal window. Screen grabs attached. I highlighted the error in yellow for the terminal error message.

I downloaded the package two different times with two different web browsers to make sure it wasn't a corrupt download.

    I'm using Debian 3.1r2 and Gnome 2.8.1

Is anyone else experiencing this or is it something to do with my Linux ?

I can't install it either, but the error that I'm getting is:

    Code:
    /home/tmartin/tmp2433413794/meta/@xaralx.org/xaralx:0.7/apkg-install-script: line 92: update-desktop-database: command not found
Invoking session rollback and returning the computer to its
previous state before this installation procedure was started.
    I'm running Slack 10.1 and XFCE 4.2.0.

Thanks for reporting these problems guys. We've made some changes to the autopackage in the last few days and it seems it's not quite right yet. The installation assumes that 'unzip' and 'update-desktop-database' are available on all systems, but it seems that's not the case.

I'll change so that it checks for existance of these commands first. And will replace unzip with tar as it's probably more likely to be present.

I'll let you know when these changes are done so you can try again. In the meantime use the latest tar archive to get the latest version, or revert to the recommended version on our web site.

    Thanks

Thanks Neil. I saw the dev archive entries about the autopackage being worked on.

Working perfectly now, on both Slack 10.1 and 10.2 least. Not only that, but the installer is vastly faster than it was previously.

I installed unzip on my system and was able to run the AutoPackage for 1596 the day Neil replied.

Installed r 1623 and it is running faster, I noticed it doesn't have the long delay with the message stating that is is updating the package database.

Everything appears to be working flawlessly so far, but I've only been home from work for about 20 mintues and haven't tried pushing the boundariers yet
