    Hello all!

I'm trying to make a rotating sphere inside the rotating ring...

Making the ring was not a problem, but I dont know if it is possible to create a sphere.... Any suggestions?

    Hi, Availor.

One of the X3D samples is called ball_x_1.x3d. Mine is located under the "Buttons" folder in the X3D program path. It's not perfect because it uses a period to create the sphere, but I believe it's the only way currently in X3D to do it.

Let me know if you can't find the file and I'll e-mail it to ya.

I don't seem to have Ball sample in my samples folder.... all I have are buttons... That's strange. I have X3D6. Anyway, if you could e-mail it to me to Availor@msn[DOT]com
It can accept only p to 2MB though, I guess this is not a large file

    Thanks http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    Hello, Availor,
as Art says you have to use a small dot and give it large rounded or curved bevel, and it needs some extrusion to bulk it up, too. It won't be a proper sphere, but it will be close enough. If you don't use sizing dots, any small dot you import will become a disc the same size as the ring. So you need to select the dot/disc and reduce it with the size dialogue to 5%, which is the minimum allowed. You then need to reposition it with the line size dialogue. I found this easiest if the dot and ring are on separate lines, with the dot on the upper line.

Art, you obviously had it covered while I was putting my post together http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    Thanks a lot http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I had a little trouble aligning the sphere so it is exactly in the middle, but I am satisfied with the result!

The gif is low quality so it's hard to see the details.

Though I had problems putting the texture right.

The main idea is that there is a settalite revolving around Earth.

That's the picture I made in Xarax.
