Default Try to stump the experts

Okay, here goes. I made an outline of my cat character and now I thought of filling it with the color of the cat. Now I have used the tip Fill open path. I am just wondering if you can take a background and "cookie cutout" the shape to get a "fill". here is what I have tried so far.

    Hi Matt,
I had ten mins before I had to start work. I Broke shapes then Cloned basic shape went into shape editor and fairly quickly sorted outline. There are a few mistakes at both feet for you to sort out and a bit at neck but you can see how to do it. May I make a recommendation that you have aquick look in the Guest Tutorials and look at the one with the using hand drawn sketches into Xara:http://www.xaraxone.com/guest/guest49/

    Hi Matt,

As a matter of interest why are you doing this using the 'Fill open paths' method? It's not a technique that I would recommend or use myself as it creates more problems than it solves. Just draw the cat using the normal filled objects with no strokes, then clone, give shape a stroke and no fill and use the shape editor tool to break at point and delete the unwanted nodes.

Albacore, Thanks I have seen that tutorial, but have not had a chance to read it. Now I will.

Egg, I am still learning and trying different techniques. I was just play around last night and thought hey, is there a 'cookie cutter'. Just curious and hoping to learn.

Parahandy, they are pieces of metal or plastic in a basic shape of something. You take your cookie dough smooth it out and cut cookies into shapes you want to bake. You seem them a lot around Christmas and Halloween.
