Default A Pair of British Classics from the 50's

Hard to beat the machines from the 50's for originality of design. The Norton Manx motorcycle and deHavilland Vampire aircarft.

Great work Gray! Such remarkable stunning detail!

I remember all of we model building nuts lusting for a Vampire model to build. We could never find them in the States. Someone would start a rumor that a certain store had them in stock and we would thunder up the road only to find out it was another false rumor. Never did build the Vampire, but drew a lot of pics of it, none as good as yours though!

Thanks for bringing back good memories. I enjoyed the view!

Great images Gray. They bring back a lot of memories from the 50's.

Do you have any plans to draw a Vulcan B1 bomber? The last time I saw one was in 1976 at the Flugg Haffen (spelling??) at Ramstein Air Base. It was on display during the 3 days of the event, but seeing it take off to return to it's home base was an inspiring sight. None of the images I've seen on the internet convey the true size of the aircraft. This site Aviation Art Prints has some excellent images, but the aircraft was huge and the images don't show that.

Gray: great picture and a good sense of perspective.

Bill: it was nearly correct, it's called "Flughafen" (airport). Flug = flight, Hafen = harbour/port.

I didn't exist in the 50's so I can't remember these. But they are a couple of beautiful machines. I especially like the work that you did on the chrome on the Norton.

jamesmc: the Vampire is one of those wonderful original designs that we will never see again.

soquili: I remember watching the Vulcan at an airshow. A truly awesome sight to see at low level. I've thought about doing a Vulcan but I just haven't been able to find enough detail images.

drifter, remi, a4hire: thanks all for your comments.

A bigger picture of the motorcycle is one I wouldn't mind scrolling horizontally across.... . You obviously put so much effort and detail in there that the small pic doesn't really do justice to it.
    Wonderful, as always..
