Sometime ago Tao Jones was frequently on this forum and I loved the drawings he created which had the look of a aquarel (water-colour you say). This is a water-colour painting I did in 1990 and its remake in Xara. I like to hear what you think of it.

Thanks Richard you've been a great help. Yes,I tried to apply the filters on the vectors (what was I thinking) on the bitmaps they're working alright. I would love to buy that magazine but I don't know if its available in the Netherlands. A lot to work with in the time to come.

A challenge for all those that would like to play with Jolande's piece is to use XaraX, which is native to what was trying to be accomplished! There are filters you can apply from WITHIN the program like blurs and other effects just as well as any other program. XaraX DOES somewhat support MOST PS compatible plugins.

Let's do try to stay more on topic with all this experimenting.

    Hi Joto,

I discovered something that might help you in your search for the perfect watercolor. Do not use a pur color in the shape. Use a fractal plasma with a shade either 5% lighter or daker than your selected color. You will achieve the painterly effect that you are looking for.

Nice work, Joto! I really like it!

Something you can also play around with, is to create a couple of bitmap copies of your final image:
    (1) Play around with inreasing saturation, brightness etc. of them.
    (2) Place the on-top of vectors and experiment with different transparencies.
    (3) Off-setting some of them.

(As in Tao's first image above.)

Again, keep up the good work!

Thanks for your comments. I like to explain what my intentions were. Ron, Richard and Johns, you're right if you say the drawing isn't like the painting but my goal was to create a drawing that has the feel of a watercolour painting in the style I've seen by Tao.
Tim, this is my first one but certainly not the last. I will post them if you like.

    Hallo Jolande

I put your image through PaintshopPro 8 and this is the end result (only used the pastel effect).
If you don't have PSP 8 you might want to give it a try, in combo with Xara I get the nicest effects.
