Hi here is a logo using chuck green method of symbols. Simple but effective

I never heard of him either but searched for his name on Google and got http://www.ideabook.com/. Looks like he's an author and designer. Interesting site.

Check out his web site it is more about showing you good design then trying to teach the theory. Good place for inspiration
