    I was receiving an error while trying to update Webstyle 4. The error did not allow me to connect to the Xara server.

    The error I received was the following:

    Webstyle has encountered an error while communicating with the server...

    After looking through some of the postings at this site, I decided to use the XMUpload.reg fix and it worked fine.

    Just copy the text below, between the ***, into a text editor, save as XMUpload.reg and the double click the file to have it entered into your system registry.

    The contents of XMUpload.reg file:

    ***

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XMUpload]
    "StratusURL"="http://app.xaraonline.com/_stratus/WebService/ws4_entry.asmx"
    "UserName"=""

    ***

    This fix may also work with other Windows versions by entering the information in the proper format for your version of Windows.

    Good Luck!!

    I would like to point out that after adding this information to the registry and the hitting the Update button in Webstyle 4, the program downloaded not only the new Template pack but all the other templates, buttons, banners, etc. that I had already downloaded.

    Just for info, I was sent the XMUpload file by customer services (I had already checked and found it missing from my registry) but when I tried to merge it, Windows (in my case Win 98SE) complained saying something like "not a valid registry file".

    Uninstall/reinstall of WS4 worked for me.
