WOW!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!! I LOVE ships. One of these days I think I'll try drawing one...
but I don't want to do it from a picture. I guess I'll just bring a full-blown ship down here in the basement and do it by looking at it.....

Thanks Bob, that must be some basement you have. You will also have to make room for all those boxes we sent to you on another thread. Ha HA

Glad you hosed down the deck - looked as if you'd been flensing a whale...

That's a lovely-looking ship. One piece of advice I would give is to try and avoid thin black outlines - they make otherwise excellent pictures look like clip-art in my opinion.

Hi Norman, only just seen the ship and it is a great drawing. Know what you mean about sea fills! but I put my attempt over yours to see if it was any better and as you can see, not much. Wish somebody would do a tut. on sea fills.

Thanks Stygg, Your sea was a good effort. Here is one with a better background. I have an even better one but the picture i.e. the background may be subject to copyright so I don't want to tread on anyones toes. Norman

    Norm,

FYI - You should try to keep posted image file size under 100k. Use a JPG or PNG with compression set to 85% or so -which views nicely & saves space. It's taking forever to load these images. More than a couple minutes & I'm on a T1. In fact, I posted this & the image has not finished loading.

Nice ship BTW. The drop shadows give the illusion that it's floading above the background. Is that what your after?

Ww I think if you check the properties of the files you will see they are about 82k the reason they are taking a long time to show is the forum is apparently very busy today. I meant to remove the shadows as obviosly one doesnt get shadows showing in the sky, it was while I was drawing it on a white background that they were inserted. Thank you for your comments.
