    Question Texture on Extrude Area

    Hello,

    I know you talented folks will know how to do this... I need to puth the tire thread on the side of the right place on the tire... [ se image of what I can barely do]

    Unfortunately, this is something Xara3D just can't do. Textures are always applied to the front of an extruded objects, and the pixels are extruded all through the object, so the sides just show the same pixels stretched all the way across. If the shape was rectangular, then it might be possible to make a suitable shape and apply the texture to it, then rotate the shape 90 degrees to present its front as the apparent side of the intended 3d object, but as it is curved, I cannot see a way to do this, in Xara3D.

    An alternative is to take your untextured tyre image, export it to Xarax, and apply a moulded zig-zag pattern to the tread area. See my quick attempt at this below.
