    Yes, fun thread.

    Everyone's posts have been super.

For those who want a clue to the hair. Drawing hair is shall we say "HARD"?!? New plugin which
comes with Alien Skin Eye Candy 2000 is called "Fur". So technically speaking I have fur for hair.

And just like the real stuff, it is hard to control. Bad hair day, put my hat on.

Wow, Sally, that is really really cool. It is beautiful. I must suggest, however, that you consider ironing your shirt before you go out into public... people might talk...

Who has time for ironing if you draw as much as I do?

Default A bit of a cheat

    (1) Photo was taken 35 years ago (I'm 5 in this pic)
    (2) Just played with filters - no actual drawing involved

    Happy New Year

Min, I really like the effects in your portrait (of your beginnings... ) Is there any chance you may share what kinds of filters you used? Keep up the good work!

Min, I agree, the filter use is wonderful. What did you use and what settings. Very sweet picture, BTW.

    Thanks Craig & Sally

I used the poster edges filter (under artistic) from Photoshop. It's a bit hit and miss using photoshop filters in Xara - varies with the version of Photoshop: not all filters show and no guarantee they will work when they do show! Anyway, I pointed Xara to my 5.5 version of PS and a number of the filters do work.

Basically the image consists of 2 layers with the same photo on each layer. Top layer has filter applied and then a flat transparency of about 40% so unfiltered photo shows through and softens the effect a bit.

Here's another - same method, different filter: pointillism (Virtual Painter).

    Happy New Year

Ok, since installing the cd, this is my first picture (eheh seeing as I lost all my previous trial pictures due to my error). But I wanted to note this is my very first go at a 'human' picture.

You gotta handle on using those vector tools. Way to go, Ace.
