    Default The Self Portrait Thread

I thought maybe we could have a thread where we post self-portraits. So here it is. I hope your self-portrait will join me or I'll be very lonely.

Please include your name and where you live.

    Regards, Ross

Nice picture Ross. Are supposed to draw our portrait with Xara? Looks like youve done a photo and some bitmap work in Xara. It does have nice sketch effect to it. Did you use some plugin filters ?

Mine was made in Xara using the 'Sketcher' plug-in from littleinkpot.com. Producing it really depended on Xara's transparency effects -- it isn't just straightforward output from the plugin. For the illustration Xara was functioning more like Photoshop than a vector illustration toolbox.

I would hope if others contribute self-portraits to this thread they'll produce them however they see fit --- bitmap manipulation or vectored -- or both! Of course Xara should be involved since this is the Xara Gallery

I started this one some time ago and realized I wasn't sure if I had the "gift" for portraiture, am pretty sure I don't have the patience, but I sure had fun with it!

Hey Mickie! -- Until I just saw your portrait I didn't know you are a woman. (Until you saw mine you probably didn't know I have a beard -- Egg didn't know I had hair because a few years back I manipulated pictures making myself cue-ball bald). I've never tried doing a vector portrait ---- it must be a big challenge.

Very nice use of the 'Sketcher' plug-in, Ross. Makes a good portrait.

Mickie, I like your portrait. I'm sure it gives a good resemblance without too much detail.

This is a slightly updated version of the self portrait I did several years ago. I'm afraid I have more gray hair now

My portrait is shown at the top-left of all my posts. I'll try and do a bigger one, but me and my 99 mates are still busy trying to write the complete works of Shakespeare.

Thumbs up Re: The Self Portrait Thread

Well, it's been a long time since I last did this, and I hate my own appearance anyway, but I've just produced a new self-portrait, traced by hand from a photo. Apart from simplifying it down to a few lines and shapes, the only artistic license I've taken was to make my teeth look better than they really are - no 5mm gap at the top!
