    Default StarShip Texture

    Hi all

I am using photoshop to make some simple effects for a 3D space game of mine. I am decent programmer, but a lousy artist!

I am trying to make a semi-decent looking texture for my ship models that will eventually be rendered in three layers:

Layer 1) Standard ship hull etc...
Layer 2) Damage marks (eg burns, holes etc...)
Layer 3) Lights and glowing bits (rendered just like photoshop's screen blend
mode)... easy once I get the main texture

To add to the "fun", The texture needs to be broken up into about 16 or so zones (eg a 4x4 square) with about 8 of those squares going to be for texturing the main model and the other 8 for texturing of turrets etc...

Does anyone have any tips on how I would go about doing this or where to start?
