    It's easy to create editable objects which seems to add transparency to the objects which are behind them.

    1° create a bitmap copy of the background object which must appears through the intermediate(s);
    2° add your intermediate object on top of the background;
    3° draw lines or shapes and add halo shadow to these ones;
    4° select the shapes or lines again and add them 100% transparency (halo shadows don't follow the transparency of the objects);
    5° select halo separately and fill it (with the fill tool) with the bitmap copy of the background object;
    6° adjust the size and position of the filling to superpose it exactly to your background.

    Then you may move the points of the shapes and objects selecting the shape editor (a tip: if you will move the whole shape or line without moving the filling, select all points with the shape editor and move them toghether.)
