Flash Questions

I am completley new to Flash and have just begun to take a class. This week we have to answer to basic question, but I am so new I'm not even sure if what I have is right.
Can someone please help?!?!?!?!?! The question is: List two or three different ways in general of controlling the timeline using buttons and/or frame actions. List them and elaborate.

I don't even know where to begin.

Stop - stops the play of the timeline until another action is called.

GoToAndPlay - jumps the movie to a specific frame number and continues playing from that frame.

GoToAndStop - jumps the movie to a specific frame number and stops the play of the movie until another action is called.
