I recently got a new SLR Pentax IST but the pix from my memory card all come out with a PEF extention, and I can't open them. Anyone can help?

According to this website,
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxistd/page12.asp
Pentax's PEF appears to be the camera's raw, unprocessed storage format. A converter (which should have come on a CD with the camera) is needed; try searching for "Pentax PEF convert."
The raw format of most (all?) digital cameras is very large compared to JPG or even TIF files. If you don't need raw format, reconfigure the camera to store photos in a different format.

hit the menu, then change the quality to three stars instead o raw...
the Raw format does make for some rather large pictures... About 10 mb per shot. Great quaility if you have a viewer tho...
Love my pentax *ist DS... I have taken about 8500 pics so far.
