Default XX1: how to get rid of that annoying left-behind outline?

My XX1 didn't use to be like this, but it is now (after an OS reinstall): whenever I move an object, an annoying left-behind outline always appears, after a quarter of a second or so. It's distracting as a hell, especially when demonstrating XX techniques for others. Yes, I have both X1tune and Xetup and have fiddled with all the plausible-sounding settings there, as well as trying settings in the Registry -- to no avail. Any tips?

    Thanks!

New graphics card drivers I think. Try www.windowsupdate.com first, often there are hardware drivers available there, if not, you'll need a trip to your graphics card's manufacturer's website.

You've got the 'Solid Fill Dragging' switched on.

Double Click the little icon bottom right to turn it off.

I can't find any other method of doing this.

Pressing <TAB> mid-drag also does the same

If I understand your problem correctly I think you need to adjust one of the hidden registry settings:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XaraX1\Options\Dra gging\IdleDragDelay

I'm not sure whether Xetup will alter that value in the registry or whether you'll have to do it by hand in regedit. (John?)

IdleDragDelay sets the time between the mouse falling idle (stopping moving) and Xara X showing the outlines of the dragged object at its original position. It is measured in milliseconds and defaults to 200 - i.e. one-fifth of a second.

IdleDragDelay2 sets the time before the outlines of the dragged object are shown at the current dragged position.

Xara X shows these outlines to cope with situations where the solid dragged object might be invisible, e.g. dragging a black object over a black background or dragging an object underneath another one.

    Hope this helps.

    Phil
