    Question Connecting lines at elbows

    Hi to all,

I am trying to achieve what seems to be a feat of utter frustration.

I am trying to connect 1 line into the intersection of two other lines.

Rough drawings will explain quicker than I can type.....

The Bottom 2 lines have been made into editable shapes

I can connect to the Left point

I can connect to the right point

But I cannot connect to the Middle

This is frustrating insofar that to draw a cube or prisms I am having to make shapes and nudge them together to give me the quick 3D look I am looking for.

    Suggestions greatly appreciated

    :. EDIT

I have been trying to draw a quick Cube most of the day so the base drawings were actually 2 squares drawn one on top of the other and offset by half the width of one and by 45deg Horiz with the Rectangle tool and all I wanted to do was draw 3 connecting lines and fill the drawing to take care of hidden detail.

I come from a background of Turbocad where you drag a line to a point and that’s it so please tell me there’s an easy way of achieving this in XARA X1

Just thought I would throw this in to demonstrate the requirements, this sketch took a little over 45 mins and was used to spawn other profiles but when It comes to joining the 'perspective' I am lost....

    Welcome on TG.

Unfortunatelly it is impossible in Xara X. One point can have only two branches.

I know packages which allow this. One of it is Lost Marble MOHO,
great animation tool, but not Xara or Corel Draw or (as I suppose) Illustrator.

It's a case of 'horses for courses' - some tools work in Method A, others in Method B. And switching can be hard work!

For an X1 user making shapes is quick and easy. The trick is usually to lay out some perspective lines first - then make and align the shapes, perhaps using Snapping to assist. Or use the Mould tool.

Another trick is to clone (Control+K) the front face, reduce the size of the clone and position - and then draw in the perspective lines.

Just forget how you would do x in tool y - and ask as many questions as you like here! The strengths of X1 are in its speed, transparency, fills, etc...

Drawing a Cube is easy. I think Gary even has a minitut on this in the xaraxone.com. Here is a quickie... and the .xar
