you'd have to animate it manually. afaik, there's no quick way to do it. there might be stuff that flashjester or someone puts out that would do the effect for you, but i've never heard of anything that creates a lightning effect. sorry!

If you're looking for a realistioc looking (rendered pixels) animation of lightning rather than vectorized/stylized effect, there's a Thor lightning plugin from Zenstar.com for CarraraStudio that creates decent lightning effects.

Render the animation out to Avi and embed that into your Flash project?
