Scuse me for butting in here, but until I read your post, I too thought that a project was a whole website.

So now I'm trying to understand how you do this?..
If I start a project say with calibrate...then I have Nav Bars that link to different pages again.
How do I integrate the pages on the drop down menus on the Nav bars.

I'm used to using CuteSiteBuilder and am thinking of using this now to save time. So I'm not that used to generating and writing code. I put the calibrate project that I saved into Coffee Cup HTML editor and can see how I can change text etc.

    Any help welcome..thanks.

Hi Rob - Sorry for the delay but I've been out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday.

I'm probably the wrong person to give you advice on any specifics because I know just enough to get myself in trouble, and not nearly enough not to try things I shouldn't.http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif.... I saved each page as a project because that was the easiest way I could deal with it. I use web4 (very, very carefully.http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif) and then a wysiwyg editor to change the look/size/font/everything-else-I-can of the page.... I haven't used the dropdown menu links because I can't change the fonts of those (yet)and design is my primary impetus at this point.

    Take care,
    Dyann

After playing around (and failing terribly...grrr) to create a site with webstyle 4, I reverted to the good ol' way of designing a template page in Dreamweaver by importing the xara objects directly into the program. Webstyle is GREAT for designing nav-bars or such but a *pain in the biological backside* when trying to go beyond this task. In my humble opinion *lol* it is getting to confusing and lacks the neccessary structuring and managing capabilities to do so.
My bottom line: Use Webstyle for what it was obviously design in the first place - at least until some drastic changes happen....

I too have had nothing but problems with webstyle 4, in fact so many I have gone back to my old webstyle until I can figure some way around the problems I have. There are error messages of html errors, objects expected, an odd naming of my original picture files to filename.jpg (web) which is an illegal file name on some servers and WILL NOT upload, found this out after designing 14 albums with webstyle 4 containing 350 photographs! every single one renamed by webstyle 4! Now the only way I can upload these images is to go through every single file and rename manually back to it's original name! The new webstyle has not aided in speeding up my designing, it has caused a great deal of frustration and more work than when I used Adobe Photoshop to create web albums. If anyone has an easier way around this renaming of files by xara, PLEASE let me know.waterwench@iinet.net.au http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I created my site with Webstyle 4 and Frontpage 2003 without any trouble. It was a bit confusing to start, but after a few trial and errors, everything went perfect. My site is http://www.coasternewsnetwork.com/

I wish they had other templates available (I know they just added a few). I'm currently using it to rebuild two other sites, and considering building one for our village.

waterwench, I've sent this problem to our technical director and told him that this is a serious problem. We did extensive testing of Webstyle, but as you can probably appreciate we can't anticipate every outcome, and there's always something somewhere that will cause a problem! But hopefully I should have an answer on this soon.

ks8w, great to see things are going well for you. The site looks very good, and it's nice to see a site in action like that.

Many thanks Anthony, Xara webstyle 4 is delegated to the too hard basket for now! Greatly appreciate being informed when these errors and problems will be fixed, until then, webstyle 4 is just an expensive and pretty toy to play with http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

It sure is a "funny" program to work with.
I have only had it a few days and lots of snags.
I find it can change your .gif files to .html, so you have to go thru your source code to sort them out and often upload your .gif file to your website separately. You may like to check my web site to see how I am getting on with it.
    Hope this helps. http://www.nssc00.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

I've been able to create a complete website using webstyles & dreamweaver. http://www.flexidisplay.com and I use it to create several elements on our http://www.energyconservationposters.com

Once I learned the quirks, it was REALLY easy to use and maintain.

Well it is now the first week of March 2004 and STILL I have not recieved any advice from Xara on the problems I have had with Webstyle4. Despite detailed explanations of the ongoing problems it seems I am to be ignored. The Webstyle4 CDRom is delegated to my pile of RIPPED OFF BY SOFTWARE COMPANIES PILE and I am at this moment about to write a detailed email letter to annoyances.org. Xara has proven to me that buying software from outside of Australia is ONE EXPENSIVE and MAJOR MISTAKE! Thank you Xara Support for your total lack of! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/mad.gif
