I have found that XaraX documents saved as templates do not show up in the templates menu when I select "new" from the file menu. When I look in the templates folder, the new templates are there, but only the original templates which came with the software are on the menu.

I followed the same procedure I used in CorelXara, which worked fine.

    Anyone else experience this problem?

Make sure that you are saving the templates to the Xara > Templates folder.

If the templates are not appearing when you select File > New... then you might not have saved the template to that file which is where Xara is looking.

Off the top of my head I would wonder if perhaps you saved them in the Xara 2 Templates folder, if it still exists?

The screen captures shot shows what I have been doing. The new templates should appear, but don't.

To restore a lost templates folder, save a clean page back on itself as the default template using the same filename (which should already exist). If necessary, do the same for the animation template ("animation.xar") whose file path is stored separately.

P.S. Looking at your screenshot, I'd guess you've hit a 12 template limit because the same thing happens to me with more than 12 files.

I think you have hit our template limit!

I appreciate the replies to my question. I renamed the extension on some of the older files in my XaraX template directory to bring the number below 12 and my new templates then appeared in the drop-down menu.

    Thanks again!

(I found no reference in the XaraX help file indicating there is a 12-template limit.)
