I don't know about the rest of you, but I plan on purchasing the new 3D Screensaver even though I doubt I'll get much use out of it. Why? I want to support Xara in hopes that it'll give them resources to work on XaraX.

This begs another question: Is this strategy really helpful? One could argue that buying the screensaver software will only reinforce Xara's recent trend towards more consumer-friendly products and cause them to give up on a more programming-intensive project like XaraX.

    What do you all think?

And I have been making screensavers for some of my clients. I made one for the local chamber of commerce which I plan to sell to the chamber to give to the members.

I think one could create a nice little cottage industry putting these things together.

You folks who work for companies could make yourself heros by creating screen savers with the company logo, photos of the product or other images, and putting them on all the computers in the company.

Here is a page where you can download some Free Samples

And to answer your question, Joel, yes, I'm sure it helps and yes, I'm sure if the product is successful it will also encourage them to devote more time to these fluffy little applications.

On the other hand, they have the technology for the screen saver, ditto for Menu Maker, so if they can repackage it and market it to a new market, more power to them.

Even I, have been known to recycle a tutorial now and again :-)
