It is a great image... worms and eyeballs! My kids will have nightmares for weeks! Perhaps I should make a printout and use it to keep them away from my art books?
Very nice image! - A tutorial would be most generous!

Hi Gary and Bill,
I started this little vignette when you two were talking about the Shadow. Had to squeeze in time for it between two full time jobs.

Gary - I'm in agreement with all the praise-full comments above. It is really interesting to see you playing with your original concept - it is a true joy seeing someone having fun.
I note that the bulb's male end has evolved with xara x. This version looks deceptively simple. I'm glad you have it as a highly polished surface rather than a more realistic matte finish. It looks pleasantly stylized.

Thanks Ross.
Soquili. You need to sneak in the old Texaco logo. Didn't they sponsor the Shadow?
A few more great images like that and you can quit your day job :-)

Hi Gary,
I think Texaco did sponsor the Shadow on the radio. However, on AFRTS radio the commercials were always recruitments. Rather strange when your audience is already in the service.
Thanks for you compliment.

Soquili:
Nice face with an interesting viewing angle.
Gary:
An "eyebulb" tut w/wo worms would be great!
Hi Bob,
I took a look at the picture on the monitor here at work. It doesn't look anything like what I planned. At home, I can see the hat and coat with the subtle highlights and shadows. Difference in monitors make a big difference in what will be seen. A lesson learned, check images on at least two different monitors before posting.
Thanks.

Soquili, that is precisely why you need to calibrate all your monitors! Then they will all display the same tonal range you intend, though hues may still differ somewhat.
Try my monitor calibration page:

Hi Klaus,
I use your page to calibrate all my monitors. Unfortunately, the one here at work just can't be adjusted to the correct settings. Cheap monitors, used primarily to replace dumb terminals for accessing an AS/400 system. The good monitor I had a few months ago was taken by the home office (should have hidden it when they came to visit )
Thanks.
For those that can't see the hat in the above image, here's a modified version. The .xar file is at home, so I saved the .jpg. Then imported it into XaraX and placed a white rectangle over it. Set an 80% bleach transparency and exported.
