Ross, it is a cool looking effect!... and you got an application for it too!
I think it would probably look pretty neat to "slice it with some text?!?&*", to add that texture to it.

Risto
Risto - I tried Combine>Intersect with each letter. That way the letters remain all vector. I put a smaller edited text shape (reduced in shape size with the contour tool's inset path option) behind filled with black. Once grouped together and shadowed you get that neat notched shadow effect. The background has a transparent bitmap overlayed to give texture - sort of a bump map effect.

Really enjoy your Xara Play Time Ross, thanks.

I suppose I should point out how I made the element that has been repeated in each of the above images. It started with a 4pt horizontal line which was cloned, offset and then blended from line to line. The blend (a bunch of parallel lines) was moulded into a sort-of-flag-like shape using the default envelope. Converting to editable shapes and the from lines to shapes gave me something to work with. I grouped the shapes and then applied a linear multi-gradient fill. I positioned the colour changes to put emphasis on achieving a 3D effect. To add a touch of complexity (sometimes = a good thing) I cloned and double-flipped (flipped on both axis) the group and sent it to back where its positioned was nudge-nudged.
Those two groups were themselves grouped and then cloned and offset to create the wave effect.

You should make this into a poster for the company you work for and then they would see that you are not playing around but creating cool graphics to promote the company and bring in more work, so you don't have so much time to play around :-)
