Does anyone know what the aspect ratio of the standard TV is?

I'm fairly sure it is 4:3, which is the same as a PC's monitor.

We have a widescreen TV at home, and that is 16:9, but when it "prentends" to be a standard TV, it uses the figure 4:3

I'm sure it's right because a TV looks the same to me as a monitor, and 1024:768 is the same ratio

Daniel is correct. The aspect ratio for standard television is 4:3 (width to height). Here in the U.S. this is part of what is known as the NTSC standard.

The NTSC standard here in America will be replaced by a digital (DTV) system with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

    Hi,

Interesting to find this question here.

Anyway, yes standard TV aspect ratio is 4:3 while widescreen is 16:9.

If you are an HDTV owner/tweaker, you may want to visit my Keohi HDTV site.
