I'd recommend to stick with one single type face.

Though I'm not good at drawing organic objects, I tried my best with a clip art to demonstrate what I mean.

    See attached file.

I find it interesting to see how other people develop ideas - I know that I go through loads of phases before falling on a final design.

You could try using Verdana - crass I know, but it's an effective font - easy on the eye, everybody has it on their machines (so making websites etc. have an all-over corporate look would be easy)... use the old BoldUnbold thing, perhaps?

The owl looks great perched there on the A - looks like it's about to take off with it! Nice one.

It is sad, but I didn't like any version. Very very bad(disgusting fonts and owls)...but unfortunately I cannot create anything too... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

I love the black and red from Jens; this looks really classy.

I have based the owl on clipart and tracings of other images; perhaps I need to push the envelope.

I like the Serifa font; I used simple Courier in my last set. Something more compact would be good. As I want to be able to use a longer word (Consultancy), it would help if it is tight.

I'll try some single font variations, and light on dark too.

I'll make Xander happy one day!

    Thanks again...

defined by the outline of the wing in the newer owl found in Option C, above.

    Perhaps you could exploit that.

Simon, I've had fun playing with logo ideas. Below is another idea.

These are all single font, and showing the TLA and TL Consultancy uses for some. I think I could live with all of these.

I need to create a feeling in the TLA client of trust, 'get on and do', etc; that is my brief to myself.
