Eric,
I have access to plans for most of the revisions done to the ship between '42 and '46. Also tech manuals and I take photos of the actual ship, although it is pretty much as it was in '46. The drawing is to scale (1" = 16') I set Xara's to that scale and the snap function to snap to 1/32" ie. 6" incriments. After the basics are roughed in I shut off the snap to function to make fine adjustments.
In a lot of way it is like model building.
