Hi,

I created this for myself so that I could test out web sites for different screen resolutions. You would think you would just change your screen resolution, but it doesn't give you an acurate portrayal of what it will look like.

There are probably a lot of tools like this, but I didn't have one, so made one. Here is how this works.

1) Take this file, unzip and save it in your "Windows" directory.
2) When you want to resize your browser to 640 X 480 or 800 X 600, or 1024 X 768, just right click to properties on the desktop, and choose "screen resolution" (this file) as your background.
3) Position your browser in the upper left hand corner of your screen. (Your browser should be in the "restore" size.)
4) Resize your browser to fit the size you want.

Note: use the bottom of each colour for the correct size. The bar on the bottom represents a task bar for my design purposes where I need to know the actual size displayed on the browser window.

Hi Anna,

I have a different approach to this. Might be because I am too lazy for resizing manually

One drawback though, it only works in IE.

If you are using IE (and the forum software allows it ??), you can just:

Easy to adapt to different resolutions as well ..

I just knew it would not work ...

Here's the code without a link

javascript:window.resizeTo(800,600)
javascript:window.resizeTo(1024,768)

Just copy one of the lines and paste it in your IE's Address-field (instead of a normal URL) and hit Return.

I saved those as a Bookmark, so I can easily switch through them ..

Thanks for the tip, Wolfgang! Slick! I'll use that if I'm in a hurry and I don't need to check in other browsers.

What I usually do when I am working on a project is switch my background temporarily and leave it till I am done the project, then switch it back to my normal one. It takes less than 5 seconds to switch either way.

Here's a little appy i found quite awhile ago folks. The info on the guy who created it is within the txt files.

I've zipped this up.

THERE'S NO INSTALL. Just put this folder where ever you want. Create a Short-Cut to the .exe on your TaskBar.

Clean, simple, and works great!

TIP: i placed a short-cut to the app within my "Links" bar in my IE5 browser also.
