I'm no wizard like Mark is but, I can tell you, I've had that problem, too. Since I don't do much "structure" designing. My CAD logo's, I open in Illustrator 10 then export to Photoshop 7. The background remains transparent (if that's what you want) so I can add to my PS designs. I have no idea if this will help you, but, I hope.
