Why have you deliberately excluded members with older browsers and equipment?

Is this a new form of high tech ageism?

Or is this what passes for an "improvement" these days?

Scuroflusso,

I'm sure the Admin did not purposely want to exclude anyone from Talkgraphics. Unfortunately, the new version of the software that runs this board is not very kind to older browsers. Even older machines can run newer versions of browsers - it could be worth checking some of them out. It will help here, and improve you security when on-line in general.

Yes, as Risto said it wasn't on purpose. It's just the way the system runs.

Having said that, I don't think it's a major issue. Most users can use TalkGraphics, and you have to call it quits with old browsers one day. Otherwise we'd all still be catering for Netscape 1.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

Its official support list is:

Internet Explorer 5.5+
Netscape 7+
Mozilla
Safari
Opera 7+

I procrastinated (spelling?) upgrading my Netscape 4.x for way too long. Figured if it 'wasn't broke, don't fix' but I'm glad now I did.

My pet peeve is why do web page designers think everyone in the world uses Outlook/Outlook Express. I miss the old days when the 'email', 'contact' link was the actual address not an executable that opens Outlook/Express. I don't use it and hopefully will NEVER have to.

Sites use executables to fire up Outlook?

I've never come across this. I'd never run such a thing either.

I think he means that IExplorer launches Outlook express when you click on the "mailto:someemail@someurl.com" link... ... but this didn't change. E-mail contact liknk is still e-mail contact link ;-)
