In this thread Rich uploaded a very nice bark texture. The image I attach was made from it using Xara.

I am still gathering textures and background images as they appear. As I get more interesting things, I have been replacing the similar images in my library. I am getting ready to retire at the end of the month, and that is taking considerable effort. I also purge my work computer with some needed addresses. I will have more time next month to work on these sort of things, hopefully. Rich
At the beach. The tide was out and we were able to go to several other areas. Rich
That one is nice!
I attach another image developed out of the bark. Doesn't look much like it any more!

Very interesting designs you created with Rich's fills.I love looking at images like your 2nd one to find hidden shapes. There is a face in the lower right corner.
Mike
Can see the face in the bottom left hand corner.
This is much better than those annoying stereograms which I never could see even with my face 2" from my screen. Bark texture after trace looks like a chineese ink drawing of a wood with willow trees and grass.
Design is thinking made visual.
several faces in the patterns now that you've got me looking for them. I must be out of my funk because all I'm seeing are reasonably happy faces - no monsters for me! Any faces (or monsters) are just the unintentional result of the layering of transparent bitmaps. The bitmaps were filtered for things like edge detection and bevels, plus lots of playing with their brightness and contrast.
Xara's trace tool was not used.
