Yep, it is that gnurf-dude getting around again

It is not finished yet, I am about to add some stars and planets, but I thought I could share it with at this stage already.

wow! That blast from behind is amazing! All done in Xara? Way to go bringin life to a cartoon! Care to give a few tips on how you achieved the blast?

Hello Paul,

I like your SpaceRacer very much. Is this a new theme for your comics or just having FUN?

I usually draw my cartoons by hand and the scan them. With the possibilities to export to flash-format, I have started to exeperiment in different ways to get that sketched look in computer/Xara generated characters.

The blast is a 75 steps blend of two ellipses (see my screenshot): Both have a fractal cloud transparency; the transparency is set to 100% for the large one and 50% for the smaller; the larger ellipse has a flat orange fill and the smaller has a flat white fill.
I think the trick here is to make the larger ellipse *really* large and have enough of blend steps.

Paul

That is terrific. The spaceship has a real and yet cartoon quality and the rocket blast is awesome.

Great work.

Paul:

Fun image and great to look at too! The color blend on your racer is very nice.

I tried your blast technique and it worked well, so many combinations and variations, amazing this Xara thing!!
