Your texture is great Stu! Perfect for the 'old wrinkled' look.

Otherwise it is an excellent picture (well, you could do something about his hair, but I guess that will be your next step)

    Thanks Guys

I might try a more serious approach and do some remodelling on it and edit some polys...definitely going to bin the ears and I might relax the sneer too and see if I can remove the cartoon look.

Oh ya I used Bodypaint 3d for the texturing, the real skin color is more red brownish, the jpeg nastied it up a bit.

    Stu--

I thank you for giving me a box office seat to one of the most dramatic overnight transformations of a sculpture to what might (with a little work) considered a photorealistic image.

To add photorealism, I suggest you add camera flaws using Photoshop after you think you are done.

    Keep up this amazing work,

    Thanks Gary

I am trying to find a style for modelling people that I like, currently I am experimenting with making a head in point mode and also with primitives and picking the bits I like.

Can someone please explain the term split for points,I have read the manual explanation but dont quite get it yet.Does it mean split of an area of points so that you can rotate or move the group of points and then re weld again.

Heres some urls for human heads and some amazing work guys.

I am gonna make a new head and go for not so goofy this time and see just how far I can stretch my skills.

    Stu,

that's great. The only thing I'm missing are tiny wrinkles or crinkles in the skin.

You've mentioned BodyPaint - is it the Cinema BodyPaint?? If so, is it worth a consideration?

Last question: did you use Hypernurbs to model the head? I wish I'd be as patient as you - organic and human modeling is not my strength...

    Hi jens and thanks

Ya I used a hyper nurbs {still experimenting with sub divisions yet} and I find also that an esier way for me to model is to use the different veiwports and set my selection tool to select all points all polygons as opposed to only visible ones that way you can make a cube a cylinder shape quite quickly just by watching that points make a round shape as you move them.I would also recommend the human modelling tutes on the Maxon site they are very good and I just go over and over the same tute until it stays in my head,I up to about 7 times now I think for the head modelling I have also started a new head this time from the tute once more.

Bodypaint 3d {Cinema} is a great tool I find it like Photoshop in 3d minus a few goodies.I am still learning how to use it properly but I can see it has huge potential and used in conjunction with Photoshop I think Bodypaint is invaluable. For instance the wrinkles on the head above I hand painted in BP 3d in real time or straight onto the model which made the whole process a lot quicker and easier and then I just blurred the bump a little as I painted and then apllied white after using black and voila wrinkles.

I am having trouble with the mapping a bit but that is because of my limited knowledge so far of BP 3d.Heres an url for an unwrapping software that will let you export to Photoshop after you have first exported in Wavefront format from your 3d program, its also free and very helpful.

You can find a tute on using this software here.

    And the soft is here.
