I especially like Mark's tip about shadows - that offers hope of terrific practical applications. One more special tool in the overflowing tool chest, just waiting for the right task to strut its stuff.

Actually Mark gave me quite a few tips when he commented on my review of Xara X that I just sent off to Communication Arts Magazine (Sept/Oct issue). I have a pretty good stockpile of things I never knew.
