hi stecyk,

Actually, there are a number of them and the more we have the better. I think it would also help this forum to be in touch with them and by doing that, attract people to this forum as well.

Not that I haven't mentioned them before.. or not that I won't continue to.. but here's a short list:

I hesitate to post a very lengthy Painter Community resource list that I've compiled over the past year or two, but if anyone wants it, please write to me at jinbrown@pixelalley.com and I'll be happy to send it to you. Many Painter users on other lists have requested it and I always send it to them right away.

It contains all of the above listed forums and more, including Painter artists' websites many of which offer free nozzles, paper textures, patterns, and tutorials. In addition, contact information for Corel Painter is listed including a direct e-mail address to Tanya Staples, Corel Painter Product Manager, who, by the way, has been extremely helpful and responsive.

Since it's several pages long.. it would bog down this thread to post it here. I hope you all write and ask for it because it will be helpful to you if you're really interested in using and enjoying Painter.

Best wishes,

Greg,

You folks? How about joining us and mentioning this forum around the Painter Community too?

It's amazing what only one person can do. Think how much more every time one more pitches in.

Happy day!

Stecyk66 and Jinny,
The Idea of promoting Painter is great. I asked for some activity and got a revolution.
While you folks are out promoting please don't forget to promote this Forum.

Regards,
Greg.
P.S.
I left one on http://www.mactoday.com

stecyk,

Um... no.. not me.

I just love Painter and know that like the U.S. Government.. it doesn't give us what we want if we don't participate (even then, it takes a little work).

Just wanted to add that we have a Painter tutorial group at egroups. We post a tutorial every wednesday and people can post their takes on the tutorial. All are welcome.

hi, jinny

i should have clarified. i wasn’t thinking in terms of a newsgroup or the message boards of delphi, e-groups or about. more specifically i was meaning a web type magazine dedicated to the area of graphics applications which exists solely on it’s own. sites like:

http://www.mactoday.com
http://www.creaticity.com
http://www.computerarts.co.uk/

interestingly painter is seldom ever mentioned at these sites. creaticity has a forum dedicated to painter and absolutely nothing is happening on it. mactoday is photoshop-centric and computerarts had a moderator raise the question about painter 6 once and myself and a couple others replied and that was the end of it. i/us.com is as much an e-zine as those i’ve listed and amazingly painter has a presence on it and a pictorial one at that. about .com has plenty of info on the graphics subjects but it’s a total free for all, and if you can find it, painter is stuck in a corner somewhere with no special consideration.

ah well, just an observation

Hi, it's me again..

I just went to http://www.mactoday.com and posted a Painter message in the discussion named:

Topic: drawing and painting program

Take a look, and add your own message to help stir up more interest in Painter.

Thanks,

Jinny
P.S. I'll go to the other sites as soon as I have time. Right now, I have to go get ready for a couple of appointments later today. See you soon!

Hi,

You want activity? OK.. what kind?

It has been pretty dead around here. What with my messages not being responded to, I was pretty sure that it was time for me to leave. Instead, I got a private e-mail message from one of this group's members saying "You win." Win what, I wondered? Anyway, he said he was leaving the forum and had removed all of his messages.. and that Athena would be disappointed. I wrote back saying I was sorry to hear that and that as far as I could see, no one won anything.

So what's the deal here anyway? Are we here to talk about Painter or to do what?

I'd love to see some more Painter activity.

By the way, and on that note, have you ever tried playing with the Smeary Bristle Brush and moving the sliders in the Brush Controls palette Mouse section for Tilt and Bearing? If not, it's a trip!

Please let me know if you find the time to do that... (this is in Painter 6).

Take care,

Jinny

stecyk,

Maybe we should all crash the party at these sites and make sure that Painter has more notice.

That's what it takes for a forum (to use the generic term) to work well... people posting messages, sharing links, announcing events, etc.

There are only a few of us here, but each of us could spread the word about these sites, along with the others that we know of related to Painter.

How about it? I'll go to each of the sites you mentioned and see if I can find Pianter there and post a message. Do you think this would help? If we just wish it could be different.. it probably won't.

Jinny, who's all for promoting Painter!!
