    Hi XARA Team,

thanks for the update - now that the ATM font problem is gone, I detected another one, because I am working a lot with layers:

I can't create a new guides layer. No way. But I need additional guide layers like in XARA 2.0, because I leave the standard guides layer editable, and use a locked one for object shapes.

Important feature...do you know a work around?

Thanks again for the great application!
BTW, now the ordering works flawlessly :-)

OK, I played a bit with the layers issue and discovered following workaround:

    01. start with a blank worksheet
    02. go to options->select 'Maintain Imported Layer Names'
    03. click 'Apply'
    04. Save as your standard template
    05. close this file
    06. open a 'NEW' file (the standard you just created)
    07. draw an object on the guides layer
    08. rename 'Guides' to 'Guides01'
    09. Save this file as 'layers01.xar'.
    10. close this file
    11. open a NEW file
    12. import the 'layers01.xar'
    13. Voil

    13. Voila - now you have 'Guides' and Guides01' guides layers.

Hope this helps everybody who needs more than one guides layer (greetings to all CAD and 3D XARIANS)

Followed the above procedure but when I went to bring the file up as a template I couldn't find it in the File>New>list.

After a bit it occurred to me that I might just have too many 'Template' items... between the ones that come with Xara X, a couple I've d/loaded and the ones I have made there was about 12 'Template' items. So I moved the 2 I figured I wasn't going to use in the near future and tried to find the new "Standard" template I had just created... and voila! There it was!

    So my question is :

Is there a limitation on the amount of Templates or have I just discovered a 'nother bug?

It may not be a bug as this happened in Xara 2 as well.

I did put it in my wishlist last year that Xara X would increase the number of files that can be displayed in the New > Template's menu.

Do you find it bothersome that the Guides display themselves behind the other objects rather than on top of them.

I usually wind up temporarily moving the Guide Layer above all others and locking them. I do this particularly when I have to work in a "zoomed-in" state and need to align small objects.

I would sure be interested in seeing a few "typical" examples of the type of work you produce with Xara. Could you post some bitmap copies (or Xar files)?

    Regards, John

Can anyone else repeat the following?

    Step A:
    1. Create a simple line.

    2. Ctrl+C (copy to clipboard)

    3. Change the outline color of the selected line so it will be easily discernable from a pasted copy.

    4. Ctrl+Shift+V.

NOTE: the two lines align themselves precisely.

    Step B:
    1. Create a simple line but this time apply an ArrowHead.

    2. Repeat steps A.2 through A.4.

The two ArrowHead lines do NOT align.

if i draw a rectangle and put an ellipse on top.. then click on slice there's still an annoying gap around to where the ellipse has been sliced...that's with the new patch(1a.a).
i know there are work around to hide the background or whatever objects color that lies underneath ...
can and will the slice method be completely seamless? can someone from xara comment on this issue?
    thanks

thanks Jens for the workaround. I do hope we won't need to work around it forever.

Doobs, I have the same slicing problem as you. Hoped it would be fixed.
