Hi Dennis,
I'm not positive, but I believe it is due to unexpected input from the user. Do you get this error everytime you save, or does it happen only with a particular filename?

It's just with a certain file that I did last night, never had it happen before. I can actually save it and open it again, even with the dreaded error message but was just wondering what I might have done. It's an illustration of a car with some transparencies and a bevel or two. I didn't do anything tricky with it that I can remember but I must have done something.
Thanks for the reply!

Hi Dennis,
Do you get the same error if you save the file with a different filename? A way of testing for unprintable characters being imbeded in the filename is to type the filename in the open dialog box instead of clicking on it. If nonpritable characaters somehow got into the filename you will get a file not found error when you type only the visible characters and click the open button.

Soquili, yes, I saved it with 3 different names and the same thing happened each time. Hopefully it was some kind of fluke and Xara won't make a habit out of it :-)
Thanks,

Open the file your having trouble with, Select all /copy.
Open a new page and paste.
See if you still get the same error.

Egg, the same error came up after doing this. I can't for the life of me think of anything different I did on this illustration. I'm just glad that it didn't completely wipe it out to where I can't get to it again.
Thanks,
Dennis

I know this might sound like an impossible request, can you send me the file that won't save.
Or at least a file which if modified with a well defined procedure, which then won't save.

it's not impossible. Where should I send it? You can email your address to me at dennisco@inconnect.com
Thanks!
