It does look really great! IMO you could go a bit easier on the signature (I think it is a bit too dominant at the moment), and also use a darker (blue) background colour in the gradient fill to make a better contrast (and while I'm at it, I think it would look better if the gradient fill was vertical instead of diagonal).

I agree with Paul. The signature is a bit grand. (it is too large).

The background bothers me. It would be reflected in the metal base of the lamp. But a dark blue or black or any dark color would create more realism.

Also the refelctions on the glass should be sharper. Glass is very shiny and reflections in glass are sharp, not soft.

But these are trivial comments. It is a beautiful and skillful image.

    Hi John,

I like the finished version the best... The one you have up here looks good, but the background needed some work.

    John,

Wow! Great stuff! I agree about the background - somehing much darker will probably set off all you hard work much better!

Very nicely done! It looks very impressive indeed!

    Superb, really beautiful!

    Well done!

And you can always change the backgrounds and try all sorts with it, it not being a bitmap and all of that ...

    Hi John,

VERY nice lamp but the background on the finished one is my LEAST favorite, too busy. Simplicity is the way to go, IMHO!! Signature is also something that needs to be more elegant and SMALLer!! The sign of an artist that has pride in his work and know's he's good is not one to over whelm the image with his name. For all the hours and effort you put into this image your signature should NOT be the center of attention. Not trying to be rude, just taking note that these two areas need some work. The lamp and the glass tray are beautiful!!
