Use the Selection tool to make a selection around the original photo, then hit Ctrl+R to crop. That will get rid of the border.

After I saw your image via email attachment I understand what you're saying better. You've applied an Edge Frame from the Frames Gallery, which can't be "undone." Your best bet in future is to hit Ctrl+D before editing a photo, then work on your duplicate. That will spare your original from unintended edits.
