    Hi
I just got my Zara CD and saw during install that it installed the demos - etc..

But I looked everywhere for the movie or Demo button and in help how to load the movies and demos, and came up with nothing, I also looked in the Xara install folder, didnt see and demos or movies.. hmm, seems rough allready, right off the bat, seems they would at least mention something about the movies or demos as far as how to load them...

    Thanks

    Vtol

Welcome to TG and XaraX; shame you have had a wobbly start.

Try looking in the Help menu (toolbar, top right) and pick 'Movies'.

    lol
I thought I said I looked everywhere, but, I allready looked there, theres 75 little buttons that explain about the movies after you allready have the movies loaded, and I dont have time today to read all 75 topics.

John said to watch the demo movies and Xara would be easier to use, do you have any idea what file extension so I can search for them, I hate movies and music, so the ext. would be a start.

This seems so rude to me, and I'm sure all other new people...

Thanks anyways, guess I'll just wait till Xari is out dated and hope its fixed in the new perchased version, grrrr lol.

I'm a software developer myself, so I know its not just me... maybe I should just skip the movies and demos, and do it my way, lol...

I really don't feel like contacting technical support, I paid so much for this program.

Hey I got an idea, why dont you go to the MOVIE help area and count down and tell me which tic it is, EXAMPLE: 7th tic...
    Thanks

Hmmm, I don't know why the movies aren't running from the Help page.

But, if you go to Program Files/Xara/Xarax1/HelpandSupport/Eng you will find all the avi files.

    ok,

    HINT:
Maybe Xara only works in its default installation folder, mine is at the below Path:
    C:Xara X1HelpAndSupportNG*.AVI
(kinda SAD http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif it did'nt work)

I see 113 .AVI movie files, I can take it from here.

To bad I couldn't enjoy using Xara though http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Thanks anyways for all the effort.. I appreciate it.

--- I'm confused... Why can't you enjoy Xara X? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif You can't get it running? If it's just simple access to the movies - why not install it to the default location? Xara X has a small footprint - it's faster re-installing than drinking a cup of tea.

There isn't ONE movie that teaches you how to use Xara X. They all focus on different features of the program.

There's also the XaraXone http://www.xaraxone.com with more tutorials, tips and tricks than you can shake a stick at.

    ok
I might try again in a week or so, I wasted a whole day on the movies and demos configuration problems.
I still have Corel 11 to use, so your right, its not the end of the world.
As far as forums, and xaraone, and downloding stuff, my connection is so sorry, that time and space becomes confusing enough for the weary.
    cheers

You are a software developer - and you wasted a whole day trying to get the movies to run?! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Seriously, if you know how to use Corel Draw - you will pick up Xara X in an afternoon. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif It's pretty much the same thing, except that Xara X runs at the speed of a Ferrari and Corel Draw like an old school bus...

--- What am I right about? I didn't mention anything about Corel Draw 11 (or the end of the world...)?

From your posts it looked like you were the only one on the planet who hasn't been able to get Xara X to run - and that perhaps you needed some help from the members of this forum.

Once you get going with Xara X - you will never look back!

I've been trying to understand the problem, but I'm afraid I just don't get what vtol is trying to say.

Firstly, Xara X does not have to be installed on C drive. I always install my software on E drive, and Xara X works fine in that way.

Just click help, then movies, then select a movie you want to see (the small square next to the left of the movie title). If you don't see a square there, it's an ActiveX problem (you may have security set to high). It's a security feature of HTML help not to just allow linking to files direct, to ActiveX has to be employed.

The movies are also available in explorer. Being on E drive, mine are at:
    E:\Program Files\Xara\Xara X1\HelpAndSupport\ENG

Of course the proper interface is best.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.
