Is anyone using a tablet with PI8. I am experiencing a few weird things with my new wacom grahpire 2 and could use some advice.

I use my older Graphire with PI8 with no problems. I'm wondering if you have tweaked the Graphire's settings or if it needs new drivers? Just an idea.

Turns out PI8 was having a problem with my dual monitor setup. The tablet will not work properly when I have both monitors enabled.

CC, that sounds like something you might want to document in an email to colwin@ulead.com, as well as to Wacom. They may have a workaround, but they'd appreciate the feedback, no doubt...
    Good luck..

Here I am with this spanking new system that does not crash when I am using my favorite graphics programs except with PI 8 and only when using the tablet. If I am using only the mouse then I am fine but then I begin to use the tablet and WHAM, PI has encountered a problem, we are sorry for the inconvenience. PhotoImpact will now close.

I have my "auto save" turned off but I can not and will not turn off my undo/redo, I need that on. I was working on a photo for a friend the other night and was applying and undoing different effects and if I didn't save every time I made a change then I got that message, that is not good in my book. I have NO problem in PhotoPaint 9 AT ALL or XaraX or RealDraw Pro but in PI STILL have this problem.

Personally I think it's a bug in the code. 1 program out of 4 graphics programs crashing says to me it's not the driver!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Yes PI8 was the culprit for me since my wacom worked with dual monitors running on all my other graphic apps, PP7, PSLE, painter7 and even a demo version of PSP7.

Yea, but everyone is insisting that it can be worked around but it is a lost cause. I am down to using PI for special effects for photo work, seeing as I really need my tablet to do fine detail work. It's OK, I have PhotoPaint and it works beautifully with my Intuos 2 (and that is an older version of the program, I wish I had the money for the new 11 I hear it's the "bomb"! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I had version 10 and got rid of it, it was a mess to work with!!

Don't get me wrong, I love PI but there are some issues with export, tablet and a few other things that keep me from totally imersing myself into it to really get to know it as well as I can. Maybe in version 9 or maybe Ulead will release a patch or something.

Oh, almost forgot, Wacom has released a newer driver. It's an RC but it's very stable and I DO notice better control with it. Installed it this morning and they added a cool feature. A RUN command for those who have tablets that have the menu on the tablet, which I have. So I hit the #1 menu option and XaraX opens up.... very Kool! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

Well, I should pipe up here and suggest that for my part the only problem that I am aware of is the issue with the painting with the mouse which see's the paint line shoot out... works fine when using the pen however... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I have used PI since v4 to which there have always been one or two bugs of which create small work arounds... but... other than this PI has always treated me just fine... I luvs this app... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

When I first installed my Waycom, the mouse would behave like you describe in PI only.

You may find that the Waycom software is set to mouse mode instead of pen mode in the maping/speed tab.

Nope, the pen is the only thing that is in the Wacom setup in the Control Panel. I removed the mouse settings, I NEVER use it for anything.

    Any other ideas??
