    girls & guys,

    this is the first one of my new product line I'm currently developing. a very simple egg cup. and because it's so much fun, I'm developing the matching spoon as well.

    Completely modeled and rendered in C4D XL v 7.1.
    No retouching, just downscaling in picture publishing app.

    Any comment is welcome ;-}

    Great design Jens. I had hoped when some of us were busy drawing eggcups for the Xara Gallery we'd see one from you. I'm happy to see your's here! - And a very nice one it is. I like the wing-like aerodynamic shape - it looks suitibly stable. The spoon design matches well too.

    The design fits very well with your salt&pepper shaker design you exhibited earlier (Xara Gallery). I also greatly admire the consistency of your presentation approach. One look at this image without seeing your name and I instantly know it is a 'Jens'! Thanks for sharing it!

    Nice job Jens. Are you doing this for actual production?

    Randy,

    yes, I'm developing a new product line. However, this is just one in a row of 'first sketches' as I call it. There are many variables I have to take into consideration. First of all, it shouldn't be a 'mee-too' product made of plastic. My products should be as durable as possible, so they can be passed on to the next generation. Then they need to have a very distinctive, elaborate design - they MUST be design objects, pieces of art for the breakfast or dinner table. They must be easy to manufacture with high precision tools. If possible, they shouldn't use too much space in storage. They must meet the ergonomical specifications I've set up... and so on. It's a looong checklist.

    And after I've developed the complete line, I arrange meetings with manufacturers - this is the reason why I am rendering my products in a photorealistic way: I have to convince them at the very first glance. The reason is simple: the decision makers are not engineers or designers, they are managers with a limited imagination. So when they look at my product presentation they must have the impuls to actually touch them to possess them. The presentation must look like ads in an expensive magazine...

    So there is lot's of work ahead. I think I will have the next stage ready today or tomorrow, and I will post it here.

    here we go with the second stage.

    the egg cups are stackable.
    a salt & pepper bridge added. no, the shakers won't slide through because they are conical
    a vase added - with the basic object - the bridge - as a 'stabilizer'.

    there is still a lot missing...

    enjoy & give me some more input!
