Hi Folks, This is the beginning of a series of Photopaint how 2's I am going to do. I have said that the dagger stroke is the most useful thing you can learn, I'm sure a lot of you already know how, but for the few who don't I'm gonna show ya a few things that will go a long way, plus you will have some fun!

Here are the basics.
Work with at least 150 dpi resolution, because the higher the resolution the more detail you can draw.

Ok
1. Open the tool settings roll up so you can make adjustments easily.
2. lay down a spot off color with the paint brush or air brush or any other tool you want to use.
3. Get the effects tool, Custom smear.
4. The settings to play with are Size and Transparency,

Transparency= lower settings make longer strokes, higher settings shorten the stroke.

Size= larger area that is smeared, thus thicker strokes.

Grab that dab of paint and pull it until its gone.

Its Fun, Play around and see what you can come up with. Then show us what kind of crazy stuff you have made.

Best wishes.

Just so you know, Here is how I did the fire in the letters,

Its really simple!

Objects, you can drag color onto or off of them.

when your finished move em out of the way and delete the garbage.

I will get to work..........hmmmm, all sorts of fun stuff to make here. Kinda know how to use the smear tool but didn't know much about the settings, this gives me information on that.

I'll post when I get them done. Like that one that looks like an eyebrow

Hi RAMWolff, with 2 f's.

You will see why I did this one first, just get used to drawing with those strokes.

I used a mixture of the smear and smudge tool (just a little there at the bottom of the red area)

I used the Custom Smear Tool, using sizes 2, 3, 5 and 7. Transparency of '0' and '22'. I liked the Smear Tool first time I ever used PhotoPaint for the fun of it in version 8. Now that I am using it for creations that I want to include in my portfolio I really like exercises to get better aquainted with the tool and how to use it better.

So I hope this is OK?? I call it "Alien Spores"

Hi RAMWolff, looks pretty cool man!

I don't know what went wrong either, Try using fat letters so you got some room to play.
