Default Re: 72 dpi or 96 dpi - What's best for web images?

Hi, correct me if I'm wrong, I understand that the difference between print DpI (ppi) is that computer dot (pixels) are sqaure printed dots are round, thus the discrepency, suare dots fit together when closer than round dots, hence PPI stands for points per inch in print terms as the print heads print a series of round dots to reproduce the image.
