I started this one out to be a water mini-tutorial, but then I just couldn't stop - as usual

This is how I remember my hometown Hanko in summertime, Finland's most southern town "sticking out" in the Gulf of Finland ( http://virtual.finland.fi/finfo/english/suomimap.html )

The tree is also made up by blends of fractal fills, a bit similar to Steve's clouds (there are a couple of them too as you can see). The main difference is that there are fewer blending steps (only 2-3) and the transparency of the top object is set to about 50%. Also, the top object is pushed downwards so the blend makes the pine needles point upwards (poor explanation, but try it and you see what I mean).

I have used "fractal blends" for a long time, and my general tip is to play around with them: use elipses, rectangles and irregular shapes; use different kinds of transparency and fadings (rainbow and alt rainbow). You will get some exciting effects

Very peaceful image Paul. It is an excellent example of xara's fractal fills. I also admire your restraint with the clouds - they look really great.

The water is very interesting Paul. The tree reminds me of the Monterey Pines we have on the California coast.

Nice use of fractals in this one! The trees look very convincing. I don't believe Xara left out one detail in there program, it simply has everything one would need all packed into this amazing vector program! I'm awaiting your tutorial on water, ttyl

You have made a very nice image. Like the others I would look forward to seeing some of your tips for making the water. It looks very good!

It's beautiful! I'm bothered by one thing though... The picture is general is very crisp, and there's a part on the left hand side where the rocks in the water are where the use of transparency is a bit out of synch, for me. It really catches my eye. Gives the impression of mist on what is otherwise a very clear day...
