waddaya think, i used to do all this in psp but i'm now trying xara x, one day i'll get a graphics tablet,...one day
also---don't you all think the shapes, ie. star pentagon etc are a bit limited, often i need hoops andtriangles i think xara has its limitations but i'm sure they will all be addressed

Eric - that's a very nice marker. It's funny but I'm really attracted to the tiny highlight on the butt end of the marker. I think you've got it perfect - the way that highlight follows the edge a bit.

I'm not sure what you mean with your comments about "hoops and triangles". Both elipses and triangles can be drawn with the QuickShape tool. To draw triangles just set it to a 3-sided polygon.

If you want a 'hoop', you use the ellipse tool or the shapes tool and set sides to 20, 40 or higher to suit.

It's amazing what you can learn if you read the help file

thanks for the kind words Ross, i did the butt end and put a shadow on it which seemed to work...more luck than judgement though i must admit. the red cap had a 'finely grained finish which would have been a cinch in PSP but XARA X had me there...
thanks again

The plastic does come across as having a realistic satin finish due to the character of your highlight. If you want more texture try overlaying a shape with a fractal or bitmap fill and then play with the shadow tool's settings.

Regards, Ross

EDIT - Oops! I meant play with the transparency settings. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote "shadow tool".
