...your instructions and shared file are greatly appreciated.

I'm familiar with swift 3D and I thought I recognized the style of the rotating cube.

The "onion-skin" style of animating movement of the bird wings is a great idea. I had not thought about using that technique in XaraX.

    Thanks again.

This one was done in XARA, however looking back and the time it took...I should have done it in a modeler.

That's part of the fun of this thread: where is the line drawn? Or should you be drawing lines (pun intended)?

    Gare, that looks so cool!
I've seen a lot of amazing Xara X designs and this is definitely one of them

That looks great! Would you mind posting a wireframe version of the image. Just curious how simple or how complicated the image became.

Here's a screen capture of the wireframe of the chrome Saturn.

If you use XARa, you'll surely know that wireframes are deceiving...they simply don't look like much. As far as a tutorial on this goes:
1.)Don't spend two days in XARA
2.)Do this in a modeling program!

There are 300 objects, many of them overlapping. I used a digitizing tablet and the freehand pen tool a lot, after years and years of making texture maps and realizing that if you throw visual clutter into a drawing, it looks more real, 'cause the world is a visually complex place. I was doing this chome stuff with physical design tools before the computer.

The piece also used a lot of transparent blends, object blends which do not show in XARA in wireframe, and TONs of fractal fills.

I always preach, "Use the right tool for the right job" and I myself failed at this here. I was just trying to show off my patience and technical chops.

I'm secretly intimidated by Jens' work

I did this when XARA first came out.
About 600 objects, and if you zoom in, the image loses its reality.
