Paul - I worked about 2 weeks. I made many versions of cover. And first version have many difference from final version of image. In this image there are 1573 objects on 6 layers.
Ivan - I use brushes. All cords and beads in this image it is brushes.
Dmagician - Now I can not send this image whole with bigger resolution - requirements of publishing house. Only after the book publication.

Thanx for zoom-in. It really is a precise work. Btw. how fast/slow is a redraw of a such detailed and complicated image?

Great job. You are a master of both light and details. This illustration has the drama that a cover needs. I'm in awe. Neil

Mickie Mason - I had read the book text before I began to work. I've found description of the main character and have printed this on the sheet of paper. And, of course, I was getting a lot of recommendation from the publisher.

Wonderful illustration Vladimyr. It shows us all the value of pushing ourselves to expand our xara skills.

You say you read the book first. Did you then do a pencil or ink sketch - or did you develop the concept directly in xara?

Dmagician - This image redraw about 7-10 sec. (750MHz/64Mb, 32Mb video)

Ross Macintosh - Yes all image made in Xara. From the first sketch to the last strokes - directly in Xara.

Not much to say, I am an artist myself and really am quite impressed with your work. I am into fantasy too!! I trained to be a comic book artist, just about every thing on my walls I either drew, painted or airbrushed. This piece you did was/is amazing. I can't believe you did it all in Xara or did you ; ) truly wonderful.

Hmmmm......guess I did have something to say afterall.
