    hello all,

I been trying to study flash and am picking it up real fast, i enjoy the animations butlook forward to actionscripting as i can really get creative.

I been studying tutorials and have recently started to download free templates online so that i can study how others are making their flash files. when i extract these downloads it says that the files are swf then i try to open them in flash 5/mx. it says that files are locked so i downloaded a swifty utility called "swfunlock" and it did open the file within flash but i wasnt able to see all the different layers and frames to that swf file.

also if i export my own swf file and then want to change it up again i cant edit it.

is there anything i can do to open swf?????

    thanks in advance!

Whenever working with your own files, make sure you keep a copy of your original .FLAs - if you've got a SWF file, it's been stripped of its original format, and compressed as much as possible. As a result, even if you unlock the SWF, you're not going to get the same layers, etc, as was originally in the movie.

From where are you downloading your tutorials? Usually tutorials are in FLA format, not SWF format - if they're in SWF format, then it's usually a demo movie, which will walk you through the process. You may want to try http://www.were-here.com or http://www.flashkit.com for tutorials, since they've got downloadable FLAs for you to peruse.
