    Hi,
I have tried the customization command
"vertical text" of Coreldraw 9 and 10.

I don’t know how it work.
    He is always gray (desactivated).

Who anyone can tell how it works?

    Thanks!

The option you're seeing grayed-out in the Format Text dialog box is only for computers using the Asian version of Windows. However, you still can do it.

First, rotate an artistic text block clockwise 90 degrees (using CTRL to snap).

Then, rotate the letters counter-clockwise 90 degrees (using the Format Text dialog box after you've drag-selected the text).

The letters will look kind of squished and you can spread them out using the node edit tool.

The problem of vertical text was raised earlier this month in the newsgroups, I've been looking at it on and off ever since.

Today's postings prompted me to have another look at the problem and I'm pretty pleased with the result of tonight's investigations

All this was tested in Draw 9, with the string VERTICAL TEXT (Upper and lower case), but no reason to assume it won't work in other versions of Draw.

The trick is in the tools\options\text

Set minimum line width to 1 character
Type in some text (if it is artistic / convert to paragraph mode after entering)
Adjust the paragraph box to accommodate the vertical text string (approx 1 character wide, n characters deep), setting justification as required, I quite like centre justification.

Convert back to artistic text after all the text is vertical if required.

You loose spaces between words, but these are easy to put back after the operation is complete.

    Is this method any use?

Sorry, method not as good as I first thought, the act of converting the paragraph text back to artistic text adds carriage returns and destroys the word, so it's not much better than just typing the text in and adding a {CR} between each letter.

Thought I'd solved print merge with vertical text alignment.
