Here's my latest attempt at a portrait. Big Frank suggested that I use photos for subjects. I saw this young lady in last months DirecTV magazine.

Soquili - you have guts to tackle such a difficult subject. Like your self-portrait of some months ago, this image is very appealing. I think you did particularly well on her lips and nose. The eyes and ear look quite good too! If I have any criticsm it would be that the feathering on the hair on the forehead looks wrong to me. In contrast the sharp edged collar of the jacket looks appropriate.

    Regards, Ross

You have captured a very penetrating look Soquili, very nice.

With all this talk of missing people on this forum lately I was wondering where you were.
Nice post and good to hear from you again.

    Hi Soquili
Your actress is very beautiful. I think everything is very nice , except I kind of agree with Ross that the hair does not look quite right. Maybe a little less feathering and make it sharper somehow. But it is not bad. We all know it is not easy to make hair. Good work!

So this answers the question, where's Soquili :-)

    Been busy haven't you?

I would like to see the right side of her face darker to add more drama to the image and a little more shadow under her brows to make her eyes deeper. At present, the eye sockets look too flat, where in reality they would be deeper.

For the hair, maybe a small highlight section could have some hair detail, not all the hair, just a small section or two will go a long way.

Your image is incredible and the fact it was done in a vector application makes it even more so. Great image!

I appreciate all the nice comments and the great tips. Hair is a very difficult thing to get correct. I'll try to get all the helpful tips worked into the image and repost.

    Thanks very much!

Very good capture of her intense look, anyone can draw faces but you have captured the expression

Not everyone, Eric. In the five years I've been doing Xara tutorials, I don't think you will find a single example of a face.
